Objective:
Develop a high Load (500V, 4000A) electrical contact system for a racked continuous coating line.
Product Development Process Deliverables:
- Researched and identified existing technologies for the base contactor which could be customized for the application.
- Provide full CAD models and designs supporting the modification of the base contactor for automatic engagement and disengagement.
- Provide full CAD models and drawings of the structural and conductive mounting hardware to implement the contactor system on an existing coating line.
- Facilitated the fabrication of components and assemblies leading up to assembly and system test.
Results
- Provide System design and supported implementation within a targeted 3 week period of time.
- Although modified, the base contact system is purchased and enhanced from an existing supplier who could provide key service components on an ongoing basis.
